Bolton Wanderers: Brief History
Formed as Christ Church Football Club in 1874, we adopted our current name in 1877 and was a founding member of the English Football League in 1888.

In the 2000s, we spent 11 consecutive seasons in the Premier League, reaching the 2004 League Cup final and reaching the knock-out stages of the UEFA Cup twice. We got relegated to League 1, and after making the play-off final in 2024, will be one of the favourites to make it up next season!
We have spent 73 seasons in the top-flight without winning the title; sadly that is more than any other club.

Jay-Jay Okocha

Regarded as one of the greatest football players from Africa, he played in 3 World Cups, and was voted greatest Bolton player of all time. He is also known as one of the most creative and flair players of all time.

A Champions League winner, playing all 90 minutes in the 2000 final for Madrid, he also went to the World Cup with Spain. He played more for Bolton than any other club. Part of the 'Dream Team' with Okocha and Djorkaeff.

Youri Djorkaeff
PSG, Inter Milan
An integral part of the France team that lifted the World Cup in 1998 (assisting Zinedine Zidane for the 2nd goal in the final) and Euros in 2000, he was a star for Bolton in the EPL. He is currently CEO of the FIFA Foundation.
